Fr Gorton's Induction

The induction took place on Friday 30th June, it was a great night and a wonderful celebration for the whole parish.  Here is a message of thanks from Fr Gorton

"Thank you for coming to this important celebration for the parish.  The last two years have seen a lot of change in this area and we have to keep in our prayers Fr Tubman and Fr Magee and thank  God for all they have contributed.

Change is never easy and requires faith and trust, this has been showed by the parishioners of Holy Saviour Parish, Nelson; Sacred Heart Parish, Colne and St Peter and St Paul Parish, Barrowford and I am very grateful for the way people are coming together.  We have been given the name of The Good Shepherd for our parish as our three parishes amalgamate and I think that the parishioner who suggested this name (ratified by the bishop) made an excellent choice.

As for me being inducted as parish priest, I am reminded of the words Pope John Paul II said to seminarians as Archbishop of Krakow, a priest is a man for others.

Please keep me in your prayers as I keep you in mine and together let us all be 'One in Christ.'"

Fr Chris.
